Bjørg-Linde Michaela de Greeff
Born in 1992, Haywards Heath, United Kingdom
Currently working in Beni Hayoun, Morocco and in Wageningen, the Netherlands.
Artist statement
Working with mainly analogue and digital photographs, drawings and archive material, Linde investigates the fluidity and the stability of time, place, loved ones, traditions and memories around the concept home. Moving between the Netherlands, Denmark, Morocco and England, she wonders whether we as humans can lead an uprooted existence, while at the same time create a home within this mobility. Feeling equally connected to all the above mentioned locations, each place becomes home but also no place is home. Where do we find security and can this exist independently of a fixed location?
With a nostalgic longing and the child’s view of the world as a big inspiration, Linde repeatedly goes back to memories of her own childhood, revisiting traditions and norms. In addition, she is observing contemporary experiences and translates them into photographs and drawings. As she plays with their truthfulness, a magical and imaginary world can be shaped.
In 2023 Linde founded the non-profit foundation Bani Hayoune Garden together with Anna Spiliotopoulou and Ruth Companjen in Wageningen, the Netherlands. The non-profit is collaborating with Es-Said Et-Talmoudi, founder of the Bani Hayoune Garden project in southeast Morocco. See more ︎
