If mountains could speak
2022
At least once a year I visit this mountain not far from our home in southeast Morocco. Its location is carrying ancient told and untold stories. Guarded by people to prevent regional tribe wars, everytime a different person, it has become a place of hidden myths and truths and it is each time more difficult to visit. Simultaneously tourism in this area is rapidly growing, creating a contradictory meaning of the place. The old, secret tales keep exisiting alongside the fast movement of travelers and tourists. How long can they continue to coexist, and what is the meaning of a place that is protected from visitors, but is at the same time used as a resting place for tourists?
